P\u0159i pot\u00e1p\u011bn\u00ed v t\u016fn\u00edch \u0159\u00ed\u010dky Veli\u010dky v roce 2016 jsem n\u00e1hle zahl\u00e9dl hejno drobn\u00fdch st\u0159\u00edb\u0159it\u00fdch rybek<\/strong>, kter\u00e9 svi\u017en\u011b m\u00ed\u0159ilo k proudn\u011bj\u0161\u00edm \u00fasek\u016fm \u0159eky. Brzy mi do\u0161lo, \u017ee sp\u011bchaj\u00ed na sv\u00e1 trdli\u0161t\u011b<\/strong>. Byly to ouklejky pruhovan\u00e9 (<\/strong>Alburnoides bipunctatus<\/strong><\/em>)<\/strong>, nen\u00e1padn\u00e9, a p\u0159esto fascinuj\u00edc\u00ed rybky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nejtypi\u010dt\u011bj\u0161\u00edm znakem ouklejek je dvojit\u00e1 \u0159ada \u010dern\u00fdch te\u010dek pod\u00e9l postrann\u00ed \u010d\u00e1ry<\/strong>, kter\u00e1 vytv\u00e1\u0159\u00ed dojem tmav\u00e9ho pruhu a usnad\u0148uje jejich rozezn\u00e1n\u00ed. Dor\u016fstaj\u00ed jen 10\u201315 cm a na ja\u0159e se vyd\u00e1vaj\u00ed do proudn\u00fdch kamenit\u00fdch \u00fasek\u016f<\/strong>, kde kladou tis\u00edce drobn\u00fdch jiker. Rybky se vyl\u00edhnou b\u011bhem n\u011bkolika dn\u00ed \u2013 pokud je voda opravdu \u010dist\u00e1 a dob\u0159e okysli\u010den\u00e1. Ouklejka \u017eije jen ve zdrav\u00fdch toc\u00edch<\/strong>, typicky v lipanov\u00e9m a parmov\u00e9m p\u00e1smu. V \u010cesku se vyskytuje ostr\u016fvkovit\u011b<\/strong> v obou hlavn\u00edch povod\u00edch, labsk\u00e9m i dunajsk\u00e9m. Je z\u00e1konem chr\u00e1n\u011bn\u00e1 a pat\u0159\u00ed mezi siln\u011b ohro\u017een\u00e9 druhy<\/strong>. I kdy\u017e je nen\u00e1padn\u00e1, jej\u00ed p\u0159\u00edtomnost hodn\u011b napov\u00edd\u00e1 o kvalit\u011b a stavu na\u0161ich \u0159ek<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While diving in the pools of the Veli\u010dka River in 2016, I suddenly spotted a school of small silvery fish<\/strong> swiftly heading toward the faster-flowing sections of the river. It soon became clear that they were rushing to their spawning grounds<\/strong>. They were Riffle minnow (Alburnoides bipunctatus<\/em>)<\/strong>, inconspicuous yet fascinating fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most distinctive feature of spirlins is the double row of black spots along the lateral line<\/strong>, which creates the impression of a dark stripe and makes them easy to identify. They grow only 10\u201315 cm and in spring move to fast-flowing, stony stretches<\/strong>, where they lay thousands of tiny eggs<\/strong>. The larvae hatch within a few days \u2013 but only if the water is truly clean and well-oxygenated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spirlins live only in healthy streams<\/strong>, typically in trout and barbel zones. In the Czech Republic, they occur sporadically<\/strong> in both main river basins, the Elbe and the Danube. They are legally protected<\/strong> and considered a highly endangered species<\/strong>. Though inconspicuous, their presence is a strong indicator of the quality and health of our rivers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
