Hrouzek obecn\u00fd (Gobio gobio) pat\u0159\u00ed k ryb\u00e1m, kter\u00e9 v\u011bt\u0161ina lid\u00ed zn\u00e1 podle jm\u00e9na, ale m\u00e1lokdo tu\u0161\u00ed, jak zaj\u00edmav\u00fd tvor to ve skute\u010dnosti je. Jde o typickou rybu dna, \u017eiv\u00edc\u00ed se p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm larvami vodn\u00edho hmyzu a drobn\u00fdmi bezobratl\u00fdmi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zaj\u00edmavost\u00ed je jeho schopnost vyd\u00e1vat sly\u0161iteln\u00e9 zvuky. P\u0159i v\u00fdskoku nad hladinu nebo po vyta\u017een\u00ed z vody m\u016f\u017ee vibrovat t\u011blem tak, \u017ee vznik\u00e1 typick\u00e9 \u201evr\u010den\u00ed\u201c, co\u017e je mezi na\u0161imi rybami pom\u011brn\u011b neobvykl\u00e9. P\u0159esto\u017ee jde o drobn\u00fd druh, je hrouzek skute\u010dn\u00fdm sv\u011btob\u011b\u017en\u00edkem \u2013 jeho v\u00fdskyt sah\u00e1 od z\u00e1padn\u00ed Evropy a\u017e do v\u00fdchodn\u00ed Asie, v\u010detn\u011b povod\u00ed Amuru, severn\u00ed \u010c\u00edny a Koreje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hrouzci \u017eij\u00ed v\u011bt\u0161inou v hejnech tvo\u0159en\u00fdch rybami podobn\u00e9 velikosti a jsou pom\u011brn\u011b v\u011brn\u00ed sv\u00e9mu stanovi\u0161ti. Bylo zji\u0161t\u011bno, \u017ee se dok\u00e1\u017eou vracet na p\u016fvodn\u00ed m\u00edsto i ze vzd\u00e1lenosti n\u011bkolika set metr\u016f.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B\u011b\u017en\u011b dor\u016fstaj\u00ed d\u00e9lky 15 a\u017e 18 centimetr\u016f a do\u017e\u00edvaj\u00ed se p\u011bti a\u017e \u0161esti let, v\u00fdjime\u010dn\u011b se v\u0161ak objevuj\u00ed i jedinci p\u0159esahuj\u00edc\u00ed 20 centimetr\u016f. Z hospod\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e9ho hlediska nem\u00e1 hrouzek v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed v\u00fdznam, p\u0159esto m\u011bl v minulosti pro sv\u00e9 chutn\u00e9 maso m\u00edsto v kuchyni \u2013 spolu s jin\u00fdmi drobn\u00fdmi rybami se sma\u017eil jako tzv. \u201egrundle\u201c. Dnes je zn\u00e1m\u00fd p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm jako n\u00e1stra\u017en\u00ed rybka. V p\u0159\u00edrod\u011b v\u0161ak pln\u00ed d\u016fle\u017eitou roli jako potrava drav\u00fdch ryb a v\u00fdznamn\u00fd \u010dl\u00e1nek potravn\u00edch vztah\u016f tekouc\u00edch vod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na \u00fazem\u00ed \u010cesk\u00e9 republiky se krom\u011b hrouzka obecn\u00e9ho vyskytuj\u00ed i dal\u0161\u00ed druhy rodu Gobio, zejm\u00e9na hrouzek b\u011bloploutv\u00fd (Gobio albipinnatus) a hrouzek Kessler\u016fv (Gobio kessleri), kter\u00e9 se li\u0161\u00ed p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm stavbou t\u011bla, d\u00e9lkou vousk\u016f a n\u00e1roky na prost\u0159ed\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The common gudgeon (Gobio gobio) may seem like a small, ordinary fish, but it\u2019s full of surprises. This bottom-dweller feeds mainly on insect larvae and small invertebrates, carefully sifting through sand and gravel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of its most remarkable traits is its ability to make audible sounds. When it jumps out of the water or is lifted, it vibrates its body, producing a distinctive buzzing noise\u2014a rare behavior among European freshwater fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite its small size, the gudgeon is a true globetrotter, found from Western Europe all the way to East Asia, including northern China, Korea, and the Amur River basin. It usually forms schools of similarly sized fish and shows strong site fidelity, sometimes returning to the same spot even from hundreds of meters away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gudgeons typically grow to 15\u201318 cm and live five to six years, though exceptional individuals over 20 cm have been recorded. Historically, they were used in cooking, often fried along with other small fish as so-called \u201cgrundle.\u201d Today, they are mainly prized as bait fish, but in rivers they play a vital ecological role, serving as prey for predatory fish and helping maintain the balance of freshwater food webs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Czech Republic, other Gobio species also occur, such as the white-finned gudgeon (Gobio albipinnatus) and Kessler\u2019s gudgeon (Gobio kessleri), differing in body shape, barbel length, and habitat preferences<\/p>\n\n\n\n
